During the Hold
Written in 2021, this text accompanies a series of works structured around instruction and restraint. It attends to the internal negotiations that occur when external movement has been removed.

The instruction was simple: do not move. What the instruction did not account for was the drift inside the body. Weight redistributed itself. Muscles argued quietly. Breath thinned. The longest part was not the holding, but the moment when release became possible and I chose not to take it.
